Open Brabant 2010 Report

When the tournament starts there were 500 competitors from 11 different country’s. Organizers Mr. Henny van Zon and Master Willy van de Mortel were proud of this.

The 4th Open Brabant resides under the umbrella of Promat, which will organise around 8 tournaments this year in the Netherlands. Competitors from Belgium, England, Italy, Germany, Norway, Scotland, Suisse, Portugal, Slovenia, Poland and the Netherlands were present. There were competitors from National, European and World level present at this competition. Some guest were Master Wim Bos (Secretary-General ITF) with his son who competed (2 times gold)! Master Roy Kawarmala (WTF) came to see old friends. Master Coos van de Heuvel (vice president van de AETF), and Master Sandy Dunbar from Scotland. Also the masters James Tjin-A-Ton and Wijnand Tapilatu and Steve Zondag were present.

 

Good matches in Tuls with great competition between competitors from Belgium, Poland, Italy and the Netherlands. Specially Italy was strong in this competition.

In sparring Germany, Belgium, Slovenia, Poland and the Netherlands fought for the titles. The team from Tomaz Barada from Slovenia was very strong with 8 first places in the A-class. In the female division -52 kg goes the first place to Marzanna Pawlik from Poland. The other divisions were won by competitors from the National Team of the Netherlands as Zenna van der Mel, Corine Kool and Nathalie Frankis. In -63 kg male was the final between Kamil Racczynski from Poland and Bryan van de Westelaken (3rd WC Argentina), Netherlands. After a exiting bout the decision goes to Poland. Former World Champion -71 kg Jamil Chami, lost the final against Zuk Maciek from Poland. In the category men -80 kg was the final against William van Dam and Hendry Bloks both from the Netherlands, this time William won the title. Over +80 kg the final was between Ronnie Goedkoop from the Netherlands and Mitja Potocnik from Slovenia. He won a 3rd place on the WC in Argentina. In this final Mitja was to strong for Ronnie and took the first place.

 

The winners in the A class sparring got all a T-shirt from the competition. And junior/senior A class sparring winners support for the Open Slovenian Championships. Also the new countries who came to this 4th Open Brabant, Suisse, Portugal and Norway won all some prices at this competition. Overall winner (club/organisation) was Taekwon-Do Club Legnica, Poland.
