5th Open Brabant Championships

When the tournament starts there were 521 competitors from 11 different country’s! Organizers Mr. Henny van Zon and Master Willy van de Mortel were proud on this.

The 5th Open Brabant fell’s under the umbrella from Promat, witch will organise around 6 tournaments this year in the Netherlands. Master Coos van de Heuvel as head referee was leading the 70 referee’s over the 6 area’s. Competitors from Belgium, England, Italy, Germany, Norway, Spain, Ireland, Portugal, Slovenia, Poland and the Netherlands were present. There were competitors from National, European and World level present at this competition. Good matches in Tuls with great competition between competitors from Poland, Italy, Belgium, Norway and the Netherlands. In the A-classes they got all severall winners.

 

In the lunch break there was a awarding from de Promat Pro League ranking winners from 2010. They got a award and all winners you can find their picture on www.promatour.com. In sparring Germany, Belgium, Italy, Slovenia, Poland and the Netherlands fought for the titels. The team from Tomaz Barada from Slovenia was very strong in the A-class. In the female division -58 kg goes the first place to Zenna van der Mel, she won from Andrea Musca from Belgium. In -63 kg male was the final between the brothers Sanel (1e) and Redzo Ljutic (2e) Bryan van de Westelaken (3rd WC Argentina and European Champion), Netherlands got beat by this Slovenian Top fighters. Only Tim Kool -80 kg from the Netherlands could beat a Slovenian competitor, Ales Zemljic whas his opponent. Both fighters now each other from EC and WC and will meet again in Wellington, NZ. Over +80 kg the final goes between Mitchell Arens and Mitja Potocnik from Slovenia. The same as last year Mitja Potocnik won again the first place and looks in shape for the WC in New Zealand. The winners in the A class sparring and Tul got all a T-shirt from the competition. Also the new country’s who came to this 5th Open Brabant as Spain, and Norway won all some prices at this competition.

Tournament winner (club / organisation) was Keter Hwarang Maribor, Slovenia.
